A practicing Spanish interpreter came to a dead-end in her search for a professional training program in the Chicago area. At the same time, a Spanish in-house translator was looking for programs that would offer hands-on experience in the field.

The interpreter and the translator came together and TIP-Lab was born, an idea created and conceived by them to fill this need in professional training.

What is TIP-Lab
TIP-Lab is a program for Spanish translators and interpreters designed for the purpose of strengthening, improving, and enhancing their professional translation skills through intensive hands-on practice and experience.

TIP-Lab's underlying philosophy
In TIP-Lab, we are well aware of the pitfalls in the profession. With this in mind, its program has been designed in order to address the real translation needs of the Spanish translators and interpreters in their line of duty.

We firmly believe that translators and interpreters can best improve their Spanish translation skills if they are afforded the opportunity to experience and put into practice what they have learned, under circumstances as close to reality as possible, in a supportive environment where encouragement, positive reenforcement, and empathy play a major role. These latter elements are essential for building a secured platform where these professionals may gain confidence.
